Named for an alpine lake nymph in the Dolomite Mountains known for the beautiful green and rainbow like colors. The legend says a water nymph named Ondina lived in the lake and a sorcerer named Masare fell in love with her. She was not interested. A witch told the sorcerer to dress as a jewelry sales man and create a rainbow spanning across the two mountain ranges over the lake. He got so into his grand gesture, he forgot his disguise. The mermaid recognized him and doubled down on her nope disappearing into the lake. Rejection turned to aggression and he smashed his rainbow raining shards of color down on the Lago Carrezza.
