A perfect little charm for tiki lovers and an especially great charm for old Montauk lovers. Before the town's theme was "paint it white, charge $600 a night," its motels had character. From the light pink, smiley face hotel at the beginning of town to the former Merry Mermaid Motel at the tip of the harbor, Montauk's old motels had character in spades.
